The history of the "Slavonic Bazaar" begins on July 18, 1992 and since then the city becomes the capital of the grand cultural forum each July. During one week Vitebsk is overwhelmed with the atmosphere of an international holiday. An abundant program of events will satisfy the interests of everyone. Concerts of popular artists, the international competition of young performers, theater plays, folk festivals, art exhibitions, the city of craftsmen and folk handicrafts fairs.

The International Song Contest "Vitebsk" brings together young singers of all nationalities, from Slavic participants to the participants from hot Africa for the battle for the first prize and the Grand Prix of the festival. Every year the festival gathers more and more visitors from all over the world. In 2012 the competition was attended by 20 countries, including representatives from Latvia, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Italy, Ukraine, Russia, Cuba and others. Both mature and very young singers, both experienced and famous, and beginning vocal performers compete for the title of the winner of the "Slavonic Bazaar".

The atmosphere of the holiday and the energy of this city unite the hearts of thousands of tourists who come to Vitebsk.
